SOMETIMES,
it's someone
you know

~ Violence among people who know each other can be physical, sexual, and/or emotional in nature. It can occur between people who have just met, people who have been together for awhile, and between people who are married. People of all ages, educational levels, and social backgrounds are victimized. Behaviors range from minor controlling acts to rape to physical assault.

The SAF House
A haven for women and children in crisis

Any woman can enter the House no matter what there age, sex, class, education, religious tradition, or sexual orientation.
The SAF House is violence - free and drug - free. While staying at the House, women come up with safety plans and take steps to make their lives better.

Life at the SAF House

Many women want to know what living in the house is really like. This information should help you:

  • Each family has their own bedroom. More than one bedroom can be used for large families.
  • Shared rooms are the kitchen, living room, dining room, bathrooms, and play room.
  • Everyone works together to keep the house clean by sharing chores.
  • All families help write a weekly menu and then cook their meals from it. Whenever possible, residents eat together.
  • There is space outside for adult residents to smoke, if someone else is watching their children. Abused Women's Support Group meets weekly and all residents are required to attend the meeting.
The following items are provided for house residents:
~ Food for meals and snacks
~ Toothpaste and toothbrushes
~ Deodorant and shampoo
~ Diapers and formula
~ Clothing
~ Washer, dryer, and detergent
